Why in News?
The President of India conferred the second set of 65 Padma Awards 2026 during the Civil Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Padma Awards are among India’s highest civilian honours and recognize exceptional contributions in fields such as public affairs, literature, education, science, medicine, sports, arts, social work, and public service.
About the Padma Awards
The Padma Awards are conferred annually in three categories:
Padma Vibhushan
India’s second-highest civilian award after the Bharat Ratna. It is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service.
Padma Bhushan
Awarded for distinguished service of a high order in any field.
Padma Shri
Awarded for distinguished service and outstanding contributions across diverse disciplines.
