What is the UPPSC?

The Provincial Civil Service (PCS) is the administrative civil service under Group A and Group B of the state executive branch of the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) is the state agency authorized to conduct the Civil Services Examination for entry-level appointments to the various Group A and Group B Civil Services of Uttar Pradesh.

Successful candidates in the Upper Subordinate exam hold highly prestigious administrative posts such as Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Block Development Officer (BDO), and Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO).

The UPPSC PCS 3-Stage Examination

The UPPSC PCS exam is conducted in three rigorous stages to select the finest administrative talent for the state.

1. Preliminary Exam

Objective type (MCQs). Consists of Paper 1 (General Studies - 150 Marks) and Paper 2 (CSAT - 100 Marks, qualifying nature at 33%).

*Note: 1/3rd Negative Marking applies.

2. Mains Examination

Subjective/Descriptive type. Consists of 8 papers totaling 1500 Marks (General Hindi, Essay, and GS Papers I to VI).

*Note: Optional subjects have been replaced with UP Special GS V & VI.

3. Interview Test

The final Personality Test carries 100 Marks. It assesses the candidate's suitability for a career in public service.
