Which NCERT Books should I read for UPSC?

Start with Class 6 to 12 NCERT Books for History, Geography, Polity, Economy, Science, and Sociology. Focus on books like Our Pasts, Democratic Politics, Indian Constitution at Work, Themes in Indian History, Contemporary World Politics, An Introduction to Indian Art, and Indian Society. These cover most of the UPSC General Studies syllabus comprehensively.

Should I read old NCERTs or new NCERTs for UPSC?

Both editions have their value, but it’s best to read the new NCERT Books (latest editions) for factual accuracy and updated content. However, for History and Art & Culture, some aspirants prefer old NCERTs (especially by R.S. Sharma and Satish Chandra) for detailed coverage. You can use a mix of both depending on your study strategy.
