Anne Carson Wins Nobel Prize in Literature 2026

Canadian poet, essayist and translator Anne Carson has been awarded the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature. The Swedish Academy announced the award in Stockholm on 8 October 2026, recognising her innovative literary work, which engages with classical traditions to create new forms of contemporary literature. Born in Toronto, Canada, in 1950, Carson is known for combining poetry, prose, translation and dramatic dialogue.

The Nobel Prize in Literature is awarded annually to recognise outstanding contributions to literature.
