Why in News?
The House of Lords in London hosted the “Viksit Bharat 2047” Forum on 19 June 2026. Organized by the NRI Association of UK, the event brought together parliamentarians, diplomats, business leaders, academics, and members of the Indian diaspora to discuss India’s development journey and future cooperation with the United Kingdom.
What is Viksit Bharat 2047?
Viksit Bharat 2047 is India’s long-term vision to transform the country into a developed nation by 2047, marking 100 years of Independence. The vision focuses on:

- Technological innovation
- Infrastructure development
- Good governance
- Human capital development
- Global leadership and strategic partnerships
The initiative aligns with India’s aspiration to become one of the world’s leading economies by the centenary year of independence.
