Why in News?
The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, approved the Uttar Pradesh Data Centre Policy, 2026 on 6 July 2026 in Lucknow. The new policy replaces the Data Centre Policy, 2021, which expired on 27 January 2026.
The policy seeks to transform Uttar Pradesh into one of India’s leading digital infrastructure hubs by promoting Artificial Intelligence (AI)-ready, energy-efficient, and green data centres. It is also aligned with the state’s ambitious goal of becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy.
