Haj Policy 2027 Announced
Why in News?
The Ministry of Minority Affairs announced the Haj Policy 2027 on 22 June 2026. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju unveiled the policy, and applications for Haj 2027 opened through the Haj Committee of India Portal and the Haj Suvidha App.
The policy aims to improve pilgrim services, strengthen medical screening, and introduce advanced digital technologies for smoother management of the pilgrimage process.
Haj Policy 2027: Quota and Allocation Framework
India’s Haj quota is expected to continue under the 70:30 allocation formula between the Haj Committee of India (HCoI) and Private Tour Operators (PTOs).

Key Features of Haj Policy 2027
The policy continues several pilgrim-friendly initiatives introduced in Haj 2026, including:
- Sofa-cum-bed facilities in Mina
- High-speed train travel between Makkah and Madinah
- Hotel-style accommodation in Makkah
- 20-day Short Haj Package
- Improved on-ground support through a revised State Haj Inspector ratio from 1:150 to 1:135 pilgrims
These measures are intended to enhance comfort, safety, and coordination during the pilgrimage.
Digital Systems and Medical Screening
Medical clearance for Haj 2027 will follow updated Saudi Arabian health guidelines, with stricter screening for chronic illnesses before travel approval.
The Ministry also plans to deploy Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based systems for:
- Application processing
- Document verification
- Flight allocation planning
- Demand forecasting
- Real-time grievance redressal
The policy additionally proposes integration with Saudi Arabia’s Nusuk platform, enabling better coordination of pilgrimage-related services.
