The Government of India has appointed Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth as the next Chief of Army Staff (COAS). He is scheduled to assume office on 30 June 2026, succeeding General Upendra Dwivedi, who retires on the same day. Lt Gen Seth’s tenure is expected to continue until 31 August 2028.
