D.K. Shivakumar has taken oath as the 24th Chief Minister of Karnataka on 3 June 2026. The swearing-in ceremony is planned at Lok Bhavan, Bengaluru, at 4:00 PM.

New Chief Minister of Karnataka
- D.K. Shivakumar will assume office as the 24th Chief Minister of Karnataka.
- Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah resigned on 28 May 2026.
- On 30 May 2026, Siddaramaiah proposed Shivakumar’s name as the next leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP).
- The proposal was unanimously approved by the CLP.
Cabinet Formation
- Discussions are ongoing regarding the composition of the new Karnataka cabinet.
- Between 10 and 20 ministers are expected to be inducted in the first phase.
- The Congress leadership is also considering:
- Appointment of a new Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President.
- Possibility of appointing more than one Deputy Chief Minister.
Swearing-In Ceremony
- The ceremony will be held at Lok Bhavan, Bengaluru.
- Senior Congress leaders and Chief Ministers from Congress-ruled states are expected to attend.
- Several opposition leaders are also likely to participate.
