Vice-President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan delivered the inaugural address at the 5th Kautilya Economic Conclave in New Delhi on 3 October 2026. The three-day conclave was held from 3 to 5 October 2026 with the theme “Resilience in an Age of Flux”.

Kautilya Economic Conclave 2026

The Kautilya Economic Conclave (KEC) is an annual policy forum organised by the Institute of Economic Growth (IEG) in partnership with the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. It provides a platform for policymakers, economists, academics, financial experts and international thought leaders to discuss emerging economic challenges and policy responses.

The 5th edition brought together more than 180 participants from around 30 countries, providing an international platform for discussions on economic resilience, growth and global uncertainties.

Theme: “Resilience in an Age of Flux”

The theme of the Kautilya Economic Conclave 2026 focused on how economies and institutions can remain resilient amid increasing global uncertainty, economic shocks and structural changes. The discussions examined the challenge of strengthening economic resilience while maintaining:

  • Economic growth
  • Openness and global integration
  • Institutional credibility
  • Social inclusion
  • Long-term economic stability

Vice-President’s Key Remarks

Addressing the inaugural session, Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan highlighted the close relationship between economic resilience and social resilience. He emphasised that inclusion is the foundation of resilience and that no citizen, enterprise or region should be left behind in the development process. He also stressed that GDP alone cannot be considered the sole measure of development, highlighting the importance of broader indicators of social and economic well-being.

Several senior Union Ministers, including Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, participated in the conclave.
