Telugu literature celebrates a major honour as Velamala Simmanna, a prominent writer and former Head of the Telugu Department at Andhra University, has been selected for the Lok Nayak Foundation (LNF) Literary Award 2025. The award — comprising a cash prize of ₹2 lakh — will be conferred in Visakhapatnam on January 18, 2026.
With more than 100 published works, Simmanna is admired for his lifelong service to the Telugu language and his role in shaping modern literary scholarship.

LNF Chairman Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad announced that the ceremony will take place annually on January 18, commemorating:
- Harivansh Rai Bachchan — legendary Hindi poet
- N. T. Rama Rao — former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and cultural icon
The award celebrates writers who have significantly contributed to the promotion of Telugu literature and cultural heritage.
