The Ministry of Education will organise Kashi Tamil Sangamam (KTS) 4.0 in Varanasi from 2 December 2025, renewing the cultural, linguistic and spiritual connection between Tamil Nadu and Kashi. The event, launched under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, strengthens India’s shared civilisational roots through cultural exchange, heritage visits and academic collaborations.
Expanded Cultural Engagement Under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat
The programme is curated by IIT Madras and Banaras Hindu University (BHU), supported by several Union ministries and the Government of Uttar Pradesh. Over the past three years, the Sangamam has evolved into a major bridge reconnecting historical ties through knowledge systems, crafts, language, literature, art and community participation.
The initiative focuses on enhancing people-to-people contact and encouraging the youth to explore India’s composite identity.
Theme 2025: “Learn Tamil – Tamil Karkalam”
KTS 4.0 will focus on promoting Tamil learning nationwide.
Key features include:
- 1,400+ delegates from Tamil Nadu across 7 categories—students, teachers, women, farmers, professionals, spiritual scholars and artisans
- Eight-day educational and cultural tour covering Varanasi, Prayagraj and Ayodhya
- Seminars, music-dance showcases, traditional cuisine displays
- Craft exhibitions and field visits promoting artisanal livelihoods
The event emphasises language learning as cultural enrichment, supporting national integration through multilingualism.
Heritage Routes and Academic Dialogues
Delegates will visit landmark sites linked to Tamil cultural heritage in Kashi:
- Kedar Ghat
- Subramania Bharati’s ancestral residence
- Kasi Madam
- Kashi Vishwanath Temple
- Mata Annapurna Temple
An academic symposium will be organised at BHU’s Tamil Department, reinforcing centuries-old knowledge exchange between northern and southern India.
