Meghalaya has kicked off the first-ever Northeast India Organic Week, a four-day international event aimed at transforming the region into a major hub for the global organic market. The initiative highlights the Northeast’s biodiversity strengths while enhancing export promotion and livelihood opportunities for farming communities.

The first-ever Northeast India Organic Week is jointly organised by the Meghalaya Agriculture Department, APEDA, the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, and IFOAM–Organics Asia. Authorities emphasise that the programme will improve global brand visibility for the Northeast’s organic portfolio and build long-term commercial partnerships with international buyers.
International Delegations and Buyer–Seller Meets
Industry representatives, importers and experts from 13 countries — including Malaysia, Taiwan, Mongolia, Indonesia and New Zealand — are participating in the showcase.
A key highlight is APEDA’s buyer–seller meet, facilitating direct trade engagement and investment opportunities for regional farmer-producer groups and agri-startups.
